Memoirs from Hajj
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
الحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله وعلى آله وصحبه ومن والاه وبعد
Inshaa’Allaah today I’ll just jot down a few points about what I experienced or a few naseeha for those who haven’t yet gone for Haj. BaarakAllaahu feekum.
1. If you’ve been lazy and haven’t gone for Hajj inspite of having the ability then make tawbah right now and make a sincere intention to go for Hajj this year(1433 H).
2. Start learning Arabic:
a. If you claim to be a “practising” Muslim, a knowledgeable Muslim or a Salafee, Ahlul Hadeeth, Sunni and still can’t converse with a Scholar in Arabic then please question these claims yourself. Please read this thread. When I met Br. Abdulilah Lahmami (hafidhahullaah) he advised me with increasing my knowledge of Arabic. Similarly I met another brother who is currently studying at Islamic Univ. of Madeenah and he also advised me the same thing in our very first meeting. May Allaah reward these brothers.
b. Arabic will not only help you to benefit from the Mashaykh who are there in Makkah & Madeenah but also help you in communicating with the cops or other Arabs which will help you during your stay. If you need directions or in buying and selling or bargaining with a taxi driver,….if you can converse in Arabic it will be easier for you. Note that apart from the official taxis even the common Arabs use their car as a taxi. Hitchhiking/Taking “Lift” is actually not prohibited there but you should bargain well and take your precautions.
3. Learn about various Hajj & Umrah rulings from the mashaykh/Duaat. Don’t base your understanding on just one book or tape and definitely not based on your own interpretation/logic. When you have the slightest doubt check with one of the mashaykh/Duaat. There was a sister and her family who lived in Mina for just 1 night after the night at Muzdalifah and left based on her own understanding of the translation without referring back to someone knowledgeable. Allahul Musta’an. I can’t help but say that she was someone who used to follow the likes of Dr. Zakir Naik, Dr. Israr Ahmed & Dr. Farhat Hashmi (may Allaah rectify the affairs of those who are alive).
Inshaa’Allaah to be continued…
Excellent Lecture given by Br Kashif Khan
As salaamu ‘alaykum
As the readers of this blog know, we like to share as much beneficial and original content as possible with everyone, with the help of Allah azza wa jal.
Today, we would like to share an excellent lecture given by Br Kashif Khan (Imam of Masjid ul-Bayaan in Asburk Park, NJ) on the topic of the Ten Commands from Allah in Surah Al-‘Anaam (151-153). You can download the lecture files below. They are in m4a format. I was able to play it on windows media player. If anyone is not able to play the file, let me know and I will work on changing the format inshaAllah.
“And verily, this (i.e. Allah’s Commandments mentioned in the above two Verses 151 and 152) is my Straight Path, so follow it, and follow not (other) paths, for they will separate you away from His Path. This He has ordained for you that you may become Al-Muttaqun (the pious – see V.2:2).”

6-story Jesus statue in Ohio struck by lightning
MONROE, Ohio – A six-story statue of Jesus Christ was struck by lightning and burned to the ground, leaving only a blackened steel skeleton and pieces of foam that were scooped up by curious onlookers Tuesday.
The “King of Kings” statue, one of southwest Ohio’s most familiar landmarks, had stood since 2004 at the evangelical Solid Rock Church along Interstate 75 in Monroe, just north of Cincinnati.
The lightning strike set the statue ablaze around 11:15 p.m. Monday, Monroe police dispatchers said.

The Virtues of Dhul-Hijjah
Bismillaah al-Hamdulillaah wa salatu wa salaamu ‘ala rasulullaah
Amma ba’d
The High Judiciary Council of Saudi Arabia announced the beginning of Dhul-Hijjah. The new moon has been sighted.
Dhul-Hijjah has begun (tonight, the night before Wednesday), and the Muslims performing Hajj will be in ‘Arafah next Thursday (9 Dhul-Hijjah 1430), and the Muslim Ummah shall be celebrating ‘Eed al-Adhaa next Friday (10 Dhul-Hijjah 1430), inshaAllaah. [May Allaah keep the hujjaj safe from all evil and return them to their countries.]
Reminder of Virtues of Dhul-Hijjah:
The Best Days of the Year – Ten Days Dhul Hijjah
Fasting the first Nine Days of Dhul-Hijjah

Bismillaah Al-Hamdulillaah wa salatu wa salaamu ‘ala rasulullaah
Amma ba’d
The Virtues of the First 10 days of Dhul Hijjah, from a lecture by Shaykh Sa’d ash-Shatree (hafidhahullaah)
From the most virtuous of days are the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah (the 12th month in the lunar calendar, one of the sacred months and the month of Hajj). A group of those from the People of Knowledge say: “Verily they are the best days of the year just as the last ten nights of Ramadaan are the best nights of the year.” Some of the various types of righteous actions which are done in these first ten days are mentioned below:
REMEMBRANCE OF ALLAAH
The first of the righteous actions is the remembrance of Allaah Subhana wa taa’ala. Allaah Subhana wa taa’ala said: …and the men and the women who remember Allaah much with their hearts and tongues – Allaah has prepared for them forgiveness and a great reward (i.e. Paradise). [al-Ahzaab 33:35]
It is affirmed in a number of texts the encouragement of mentioning the takbeer. Allaah Subhana wa taa’ala said: and mention the Name of Allaah on appointed days (i.e. 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th day of Dhul-Hijjah) [al-Hajj 22:28]
