This last weekend, we were able to attend the highly beneficial lecture at Masjid Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab in Camden, NJ on the topic of “Incident of Fort Hood and a refutation of the caller Anwar al-Awlaki”

Before I go on to mention some points of benefit gained from the two lectures given by our brothers Hasan as-Somalee and Abul Hasan al-Malik, we would like to share this short beneficial clip from Class 3 of Expl. of the Three Fundamental Principles by Hasan as-Somalee.

Misguided caller Anwar Awlaki.mp3

Anwar al-Awlaki is a popular speaker here in the West, especially with the youth because of his CD Audio sets on the Hereafter, the Stories of the Prophets, the Lives of Abu Bakr and Umar and some others.

This individual is now showing his true colors after talking about such soft topics as those mentioned above so that the hearts will become attached to him and then it becomes easy to turn the people using emotions and misguided ideologies to whatever path they want.

It is often mentioned that Anwar al-Awlaki is “Salafi” meaning one who follows the way of the Salaf us-Saalih (first three generations of Islaam) in all matters in the Deen. What is clear is that he is Qutubi (one who follows and is nurtured upon the books and methodology of Syed Qutb rahimahullah) and not Salafi.

[Nov. 5th]: The events of Fort Hood transpire (mass shooting). Al-Awlaki is quick to praise the event on his website with a blog heading ‘Nidal Hasan did the Right Thing’ We have included screenshots of this below.

The lectures on this topic of the misguided ideology of Anwar al-Awlaki can be found below inshaAllah.

Lecture 1: Hassan as Somali – 52 minutes in length: Lecture will be uploaded soon inshaAllah
Lecture 2: Abul Hasan Maalik – 1 hour and 7 minutes in length: Salafee Condemnation of the Fort Hood Shooting and a Disavowal of Anwar al-Awlaki

We will be sharing other information about this individual as quite a few of the mashaayikh of Ahlus Sunnah have been asked about him and have refuted him and the ideology of the Khwaarij that he is upon.

Excellence of Fasting the Day of ‘Arafah (Nov. 26th 2009 inshaAllah)

Excellence of Fasting on the Day of Arafah ( Nov 26th 2009 )

FASTING THE DAY OF ’ARAFAH:

The ninth day of Dhul-Hijjah is the day of ’Arafah, since it is on this day that the pilgrims gather at the mountain plain of ’Arafah, praying and supplicating to their Lord.

It is mustahabb (highly recommended) for those who are not pilgrims to fast on this day, since the Prophet (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) was asked about fasting on the day of ’Arafah, so he said, “It expiates the sins of the past year and the coming year.” [4]

Likewise, the Prophet (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said, ‘There is no day on which Allaah frees people from the Fire more so than on the day of ’Arafah. He comes close to those (people standing on ’Arafah), and then He reveals before His Angels saying, ‘What are these people seeking.” [5]

Imaam at-Tirmidhee (d.275H) – rahimahullaah – said, “The People of Knowledge consider it recommended to fast on the day of ’Arafah, except for those at ’Arafah.” [6]

[5] Related by Muslim (no. 1348), from ’Aa‘ishah (radiyallaahu ’anhaa).

What to do if ‘Eid falls on a Friday?

November 24, 2009 2 comments

Eid falls on Friday must one pray Jumah
Question:

If ”Eid Al-/ Fitr or Eid Al-Adha fell on Friday, . In this case what should be done? Should we pray Zuhr if we dont offer the Friday prayer, or is there no requirement for it if we do not perform the Friday prayer?

Answer:

Whoever prayed the Eid prayer on Friday, it is permitted for him not to attend the Friday prayer on that day, except for the Imam, for he is obliged to perform it for whoever wishes to attend it -be they from among those who attended the Eid prayer , or those who did not attend it . If no one attends the Friday prayer , he is relieved of its obligation and he should offer the Zhur prayer. In saying this, the scholars cite as evidence the narration of Abu Dawud in his Sunan, on the authority of Iyyas bin Abi Ramlah Ash-Shami, who said : I witnessed Mu’awiyyah bin Abi Sufyan, may Allah be pleased with him , asking Zaid bin Arqam: Did you witness two Eids falling on the same day with the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhe was salaam ? He said : Yes . He asked : ” And what did he do ? He replied : ” He offered the Eid prayer , then he gave permission for those who wished, to perform the Friday prayer , saying : Whoever wants to pray, then let him pray . (Abu Dawud no . 1070)

Also cited as evidence is the narration of Abu Dawud in his Sunan, on the authority of Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, from the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhe was salaam , which states that he said : Two Eids have fallen on this day, so whoever wished, it will siffice him instead of the Friday prayer; and we are offering the Friday prayer.( Abu Dawud no 1074)

This proves that it is allowed on Fridays for those who have attended the Eid prayer not to perform the Friday prayer , but that the Imam is not excused, because he sallallahu alayhe was salaam said : And we are offering the Friday prayer.

Also cited as evidence is the narration of Muslim, on the authority of An-Nu’man bin Bashir, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet sallallahu alayhe was salaam used to recite Surah Al-A’la and Surah Al-Ghashiyah in the Eid prayers and the Friday prayers and he might have prayed both of them one day and recited them in both prayers ( Muslim no 878) So whoever does not attend the Friday prayer from among those who have prayed the Eid prayer, he must pray it as Zhur , in accordance with the evidences which prove that it is obligatory to offer the Zhur prayer for those who do not attend the Friday Prayer .

And may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet, Muhammad and upon his family and Companions.

Praying Tahajjud with the wife

November 19, 2009 Leave a comment

Where should a woman stay when offering the optional late night Prayer behind her husband?

Q 2: Is it permissible for the husband to offer qiyam-ul-Layl (standing for optional Prayer at night) with his wife standing beside him even though he is not leading her in Salah (Prayer)? A: Offering Tahajjud (optional late night Prayer) in other than Ramadan is not permissible in congregation continuously; rather, each person has to offer it individually. However, it is permissible for your wife to offer Salah beside you as long as you do not lead her in Salah and she does not follow you. Also, there is no harm for her to offer Tahajjud with you in other than Ramadan occasionally but not continuously; because Ibn `Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) offered optional night Salah with the Prophet (peace be upon him) and so did Abu Al-Darda’ who offered Salah with Salman (may Allah be pleased with them). Your wife should stand behind you when you lead her in Salah.

May Allah grant us success! May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions!

Bismillaah al-Hamdulillaah wa salatu wa salaamu ‘ala rasulullaah

Amma ba’d

The High Judiciary Council of Saudi Arabia announced the beginning of Dhul-Hijjah. The new moon has been sighted.

Dhul-Hijjah has begun (tonight, the night before Wednesday), and the Muslims performing Hajj will be in ‘Arafah next Thursday (9 Dhul-Hijjah 1430), and the Muslim Ummah shall be celebrating ‘Eed al-Adhaa next Friday (10 Dhul-Hijjah 1430), inshaAllaah. [May Allaah keep the hujjaj safe from all evil and return them to their countries.]

Reminder of Virtues of Dhul-Hijjah:

The Best Days of the Year – Ten Days Dhul Hijjah

Fasting the first Nine Days of Dhul-Hijjah

________________________________________________________________________________________________

Bismillaah Al-Hamdulillaah wa salatu wa salaamu ‘ala rasulullaah

Amma ba’d

The Virtues of the First 10 days of Dhul Hijjah, from a lecture by Shaykh Sa’d ash-Shatree (hafidhahullaah)

From the most virtuous of days are the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah (the 12th month in the lunar calendar, one of the sacred months and the month of Hajj). A group of those from the People of Knowledge say: “Verily they are the best days of the year just as the last ten nights of Ramadaan are the best nights of the year.” Some of the various types of righteous actions which are done in these first ten days are mentioned below:

REMEMBRANCE OF ALLAAH
The first of the righteous actions is the remembrance of Allaah Subhana wa taa’ala. Allaah Subhana wa taa’ala said: …and the men and the women who remember Allaah much with their hearts and tongues – Allaah has prepared for them forgiveness and a great reward (i.e. Paradise). [al-Ahzaab 33:35]

It is affirmed in a number of texts the encouragement of mentioning the takbeer. Allaah Subhana wa taa’ala said: and mention the Name of Allaah on appointed days (i.e. 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th day of Dhul-Hijjah) [al-Hajj 22:28]
