The best thing after Iman and the worst thing after Kufr [women]

It is reported that ‘Umar b. Al-Khattâb – Allâh be pleased with him – once addressed the people and said:

No man can have anything better after faith (îmân) than a woman of righteous character, loving and child-bearing. And no man can have anything worse after unbelief (kufr) than a sharp-tongued woman of bad character.

These are the happiest times for a Sunni, when he hears that he can have the chance to sit with one of the mashaayikh of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama’ah.

Many people in the West are referred to as “Shaykh” when they are not really deserving of that title. In the West, we don’t have any scholars, we only have speakers. And that is why when one of the mashaayikh come to the West, we should take every opportunity to go and sit with them inshaAllah.

This Life in Brief – Sayings of the Salaf

As salaamu ‘aalykum wa rahmatullah

SubhanAllah, life is such a fleeting thing. We go towards it yet it runs away from us. Days and weeks and months go by so fast.

I have been really busy working on some projects, one of them, a new site dedicated to Expert Audio Interviews. The first audio interview we did was with Abdus Salaam Walker. Many of the readers of this blog, may Allah have mercy upon you all, may know him since he designs many of the book covers for authentic Islamic books in English. May Allah increase his rizq and make him successful in his endeavours.

I have realized after spending the past few months working really hard on developing the website myself along with the help of a good brother, Sajid al-Hindee, that the time one takes away from learning the Deen and reading the Qur’aan is not coming back. It is gone and after a while, you start to feel like you are missing something. Your heart desires knowledge and the circles of knowledge where authentic knowledge is shared and spread.

SubhanAllah, it is easy to become too attached to this dunya and leave the concern of the aakhiraa. That is why the Prophet sallalahu ‘alayhe wasallam used to make dua with words close to “O Allah, take the love of this dunya out of my heart and put the love of the aakhiraa in my heart”

And today, when I read a statement from ‘Ali radiyallahu anhu, I had to share it with everyone else. I hope it is of benefit to all. And we ask Allah that He keeps us firm on emaan and the straight path of Haneefiyyah.

It is reported that some people asked ‘Alî b. Abî Tâlib – Allâh be pleased with him –  to describe this worldly life (the dunyâ). He said:

Do you want a long description or a brief one? They replied, “a brief one.” He said, “Its permissible things (halâl) [lead to] accounts being taken from you, and its forbidden things (harâm) [lead to the] Fire.
