After Salaah…Clear the Foam!

Abu Hurayrah (radiyallaahu ‘anhu) reported from the Messenger of Allaah (salallaahualaihi wa sallam)

Whoever glorifies Allaah (says SubHaanallaah) after each prayer thirty-three times, praises Allaah (says alHamdulillaah) thirty-three times, and magnifies Allaah (says Allaahu Akbar) thirty-three times – that makes ninety-nine – then completes one hundered by saying ‘Laa ilaaha illallaah waHdahu laa shareeka lahu, lahul mulku, wa lahul Hamdu, wa huwa ‘alaa kulli shay’in qadeerun (1), his sins will be forgiven even if they were (abundant) like the foam of the sea. ” (2)

Next time your nafs and/or the Shaytaan urge you to get up after salah without saying this…

think about your many sins…

and how THIS action – if done sincerely for the sake of Allaah – can be the one that will save you (after His Mercy) (3).

(1) Translation as appears in Hisul Muslim: None has the right to be worshipped except Allaah, alone, without partner, to Him belongs all sovereignty and praise and He is over all things omnipotent.

(2) Reported by Muslim in his Saheeh, #939. Online Reference in Translation of Saheeh Muslim: Book 004, Chapter 69, #1243.

(3) Abu Hurayrah reported Allaah’s Messenger (sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam) as saying: There is none whose deeds alone would entitle him to get into Paradise. It was said to him: And, Allaah’s Messenger, not even you? Thereupon he said: Not even I, but that my Lord wraps me in Mercy. – Translation of Saheeh Muslim, Book 039, Chapter 15, #6761
